CHAPTER FIVE

– KYST –

Each step I take empowers me. I can feel it intensify. With the bond in place there’s an added bonus of the power boost enhancing our capabilities. Eternal mating with vampires always strengthens your abilities but my mate isn’t a full vampire; she’s a combination of powerful supernaturals.

This little fact keeps ringing a bell inside my head to be aware of my every move. None of us know the aftereffects but what we do know is that there are added abilities for either one of us.

Not knowing what the extent of my abilities are, I must try to keep my anger at bay before I slice someone’s throat with a knife appearing in my hand with a single thought. Not that I could do such a thing a few hours ago, but with Diantha being part angel it could be a possibility now.

An angel has the ability to recall an item connected through any blood connection. That right there gives a lot of possibilities and a whole arsenal of weapons at the tip of your fingers with a mere thought.

Like I said, I need to contain my anger. But it could be a real challenge to do so when I step closer to the men gathering in front of the clubhouse. There’s a black van with two people standing in front of it. Five of my men have them surrounded.

“What the fuck is going on?” I question, making my men step away to reveal the two men who are dressed in black suits.

“Kyst von Kershaw, our boss would like to have a word with you,” one of the men says.

“Yeah? Well, then he can make a fucking appointment. Get off my damn property.” I spin around to head back to my mate.

I’ve taken four steps but the man’s words make me freeze in place. “I’m afraid Frank Keenan must insist on a conversation right now. Otherwise there will be consequences for your ranch.”

Turning to face them I attempt to hold my anger at bay when I hiss, “What. Fucking. Consequences?”

Both men don’t look impressed by my words or show any fear. Two against six. Two humans, six vampires. If they knew they would run like the devil himself is on their heels. But instead they keep their chin high and even give me a sly grin showing they think they’re in full control.

“You can imagine what connections our boss has. He could make a few calls and have several inspectors here to shut you down or the FBI turning this ranch inside out to search for illegal activities and substance. Even if there aren’t any violations, your reputation will be damaged.”

Now I’m the one giving them a sly grin. If they threaten me with human laws and pressures it does make me question if Frank is aware of his son’s activities. Shitty thing is, I have to pretend these fucks have me by the balls with their useless threats.

Thinking fast I try to angle this issue as if Frank is trying to reach me because of the deal we made concerning the mare.
